Home décor delights!

Time to talk all things home décor! I’ve been getting REALLY into this sort of stuff lately. The hubby and I have recently moved house and tried to invest more time into decorating the rooms to give it a real homely feel. Most recently we re-decorated our bedroom! It involved a stressful trip to IKEA followed by hours of building furniture, top bonding activity I would say! Anywayyy…just going to give a quick rundown of my home décor ideas & how I achieved them.
First up- collaging. I see this EVERYWHERE & I love it! For our recent venture in re-decorating the bedroom we opted for black furniture to give it an art deco feel so I thought the perfect pairing for this was collaging black photo frames on both walls of the bedroom. Now it’s a work in progress as I can only justify spending a certain amount of money of black frames at a time… I am a student after all. But, I think it works really well, it gives a really simplistic feel to the bedroom. I plan to fill the frames with a mix of personal photos and prints. P.S the frames were from Wilkinsons and home bargains so super affordable guys.

This Disney print pictured is actually just printed straight from the internet from google images, a proper cheat move I know…. I don’t even know if I’m allowed to disclose that? Lol. But again, I am a student and can’t justify spending money on loads of prints currently when I need to buy shampoo yano? Anyway, I made the print black and white and matched mickey and Minnie on opposite sides of the bed. A real salute to my love of Disney whilst sticking to the theme intended.
Pillows. OMG I love pillows so much, my in-laws take the piss out of me all the time for having so many but I just think pillows really give your home a cosey and nurturing feel. When we first moved house, this sofa already had pillows with it that were all very dark brown. I felt like it made the room look super dark so wanted to incorporate some colour to bring some life to the living room. I opted for these mustard coloured cushions from Matalan- I was honestly amazed at the difference the made. They tied in really well with the curtain colour and gave a real healthy pop of colour to the sofas. I was quite sceptical at first to go with such a bright colour but the risk paid off! Some before & after shots below!
House plants- this summer has ignited my love for house plants. Back in April, I purchased my first house plant and then the addiction took over! I now have about 15 house plants dotted around the house and they just bring me so much joy! Except for on Tuesday when its house plant watering day and I regret that I bought so many lol.

I’m still very much learning in the house plant game about how best to look after each type but I’ve done pretty well to say I’ve only have two house plant deaths (cry…) since i started and they were fern’s which I hear are quite tricky to look after. The main colours in our house are browns and creams so the vibrant green colour of the house plants gives a nice burst of colour and a fresh botanical vibe- love it! Photo on the left features one of my gorgeous pooches- Rizzo. (I'm obsessed with my dogs!)
I’m constantly looking for more ideas on home décor so if anyone reading his has any ideas then pop them in the comments 😊
